Race weekend logistics — HYROX Vancouver, BC 2026
The practical stuff the official page skips, written for first-timers. Updated 2026-09-09; schedules stay provisional until HYROX publishes individual start times, so confirm your wave on the official event page before you travel.
Getting to the Vancouver Convention Centre
The race is in Halls A, B, and C of the Vancouver Convention Centre’s West Building, 1055 Canada Place, Vancouver, BC V6C 0C3 — the green-roofed building on the harbour at the foot of Burrard Street. Four days, Thursday through Sunday, December 17–20.
Vancouver is one of the easiest HYROX cities to do without a car. The Canada Line SkyTrain runs from YVR straight to Waterfront Station in about 25 minutes, with frequent service through the day (less often midday, evenings and weekends); budget roughly C$10–12 for the trip, since leaving the airport carries a YVR AddFare on top of the zone fare, and check TransLink for the current price and the cheaper evening and weekend rate. Waterfront Station is across the street from Canada Place; allow about ten minutes on foot from the station, heading west along Canada Place toward the West Building’s Burrard Street and Thurlow Street entrances and following the event signage. The same station serves the Expo Line, the SeaBus, and the West Coast Express.
Crossing from the U.S.? Bring a passport. A NEXUS card speeds the land border at Peace Arch, but only if every person in the vehicle is a NEXUS member carrying their card; one member driving non-member teammates cannot use the dedicated lane. Driving up from Seattle is about three hours without a border queue.
Parking
Both buildings have secure underground parking run by independent operators, open 24/7, first-come, first-served:
- West Building (1055 Canada Place, where the race is) — 440 stalls, operated by Impark. Enter off Canada Place half a block west of the Burrard Street intersection, on the right-hand side.
- East Building (999 Canada Place) — 750 stalls, operated by Indigo. Enter at the foot of Howe Street. A covered walk from the race hall.
- Rates are set by the operators (Impark 604-331-7288; Indigo 1-866-856-8080) and are downtown-Vancouver prices, so budget accordingly. With only 440 stalls under the West Building, the early Men’s and Doubles waves may fill it; the East garage and the SkyTrain are the fallbacks.
Where to stay
The venue lists three connecting hotels: the Pan Pacific Vancouver is in the same building as the East Building (with an underground link to the West), the Fairmont Waterfront connects by an underground passage, and the Fairmont Pacific Rim, directly across from the West Building doors, is the third. All three are premium; for value, anything on the Canada Line or Expo Line within a few stops of Waterfront is a short train ride plus the ten-minute walk from the station.
A HYROX weekend will put the harbourfront hotels in demand. Check actual rates for December 17–20 and book as soon as your race day is confirmed rather than waiting for your individual start time, which only arrives about three days out.
Check-in and race-day flow
Your individual start time is published about three days before the event and cannot be changed, so plan travel around your division’s window rather than a specific hour until then.
- Bring government-issued photo ID (the rulebook requires it, together with your registration confirmation). Nobody can check in on your behalf.
- Two different 90-minute rules: the check-in desk for your division opens 90 minutes before that division’s first wave, but you can only check in from 90 minutes before your own assigned start time. Arrive inside your window, not before.
- Want to get in earlier to watch or settle your nerves? Go via the Spectator Check-In desk with your athlete ticket and ID.
- Aid stations run before, during, and after the race, and the Thunderdome viewing area overlooks the floor if you want to study the course before your wave.
- Wear the wristband from check-in if you want race photos — the official photographer’s selfie search only finds you with it visible.
- Age-group ceremonies happen after every athlete in a division has finished. If you podium on a weekday, go to the Help Desk with ID for free access to the ceremony and your flag; anyone coming with you needs a spectator ticket.
Weekend schedule (provisional)
Four days, and the published schedule is provisional; treat it as the shape of the weekend and check the official page for your final wave. Every time below is a start-wave window, not a finish: add your own race time (and the ceremony, if you are in contention) before booking anything for afterwards.

Tickets, changes, and spectators
Spectator tickets are sold separately from athlete entries. Athlete tickets are locked at purchase unless you bought a Flex add-on, and every Flex deadline falls at 7:59 AM in the event’s time zone: Lite Flex allows one name change until 7:59 AM the day before your race day; full Flex adds the same name change plus a refund window (100% until 7:59 AM 31 days before your race day, 50% until 7:59 AM 7 days before), and refunds exclude the Flex and service fees. Changes go through your HYROX account. No event transfers or division changes exist this season, and Flex cannot be added after the fact.
What to bring
- Passport if you are crossing the border, plus government-issued photo ID and your ticket on your phone.
- Running shoes with grip you have already trained in — expect a hard indoor floor with turf strips at the sleds and lunges, the usual HYROX layout.
- A waterproof shell and a warm layer: there is a good chance of rain on the walk from Waterfront Station.
- A bottle and the race nutrition you have practiced with — but note the venue’s own FAQ says food and drink may not be brought in from outside, and HYROX has not published a Vancouver-specific exception. Eat your pre-race meal before you enter, rely on the aid stations inside, and check the athlete guide in race week for what is allowed through athlete check-in.
- Optional: gloves for the sled pull and farmers carry, a spare shirt for the finish-line photo.
Weather
Mid-December in Vancouver is mild but wet: temperatures a few degrees above freezing, grey skies and rain on most days, with snow in the city itself uncommon. The race is indoors on the harbour; check the forecast the week of and pack for wet walks and a damp shakeout run along the seawall, which is still one of the best pre-race runs in the sport.
